Sefton Coast Partnership Working Group

Landscape Strategy & Consultation

Countryscape was contracted to carry out landscape consultancy work in support of the Sefton Coast partnership. This involved developing and facilitating a series of community workshops, where local people were encouraged to think creatively about their landscape and share ideas for its future management.

The purpose of the workshops was to:

  • Identify key issues affecting landscape character (i.e. forces for change)
  • Develop actions to improve areas of landscape in unfavourable condition
  • Identify cultural associations which should be celebrated and promoted to visitors

Information from the workshops was used by Countryscape to develop a landscape strategy as part of an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, which was successful in securing funding to establish a Landscape Partnership project for the Sefton Coast. The strategy was designed by Countryscape to a high standard, using professional photography to help illustrate the unique character and qualities of the landscape.

Countryscape has sinced worked with the Sefton Coast Partnership to facilitate development of an Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan for the area.
