Countryscape designed and produced a series of display panels for an event celebrating the Large Blue Butterfly Project: a programme of research and conservation carried out by the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH).
The Large Blue butterfly (Phengaris arion) is an endangered species that had all but disappeared from the UK during the 1970s. CEH led pioneering research into the Large Blue, working with a range of conservation bodies and land managers to restore the species’ habitat at more than 50 former sites. As a result of the project, there are now 33 colonies of the Large Blue in England – two of which are the largest in the world.
