Countryscape was initially contracted to develop a website for Philips Park in Manchester, aiming to improve the visitor experience through better interpretation and education. The website was built using a content management system, so it could be easily updated by park wardens, community groups and other local stakeholders. The website provided a range of content, all of which was sourced and produced by Countryscape - including an interactive map and timeline, a discussion forum and video clips.
Following the success of the Philips Park website, Countryscape was again contracted to expand the site so that it covers the whole of the Medlock Valley, of which Philips Park is a part. This involved fusing together two different websites - the initial Philips Park site and that of the Medlock Valley - to form a single resource under a shared brand identity.
The Medlock Valley website has since been updated and maintained by local stakeholders.
