Good building design in the Malvern Hills AONB

The Malvern Hills AONB Partnership is producing a Building Design Guide. Buildings are an important component of the natural beauty of the AONB and the local distinctiveness of this nationally important landscape. The purpose of the Building Design Guide is to inform the work of property owners, developers and decision makers to ensure that future development helps to maintain and enhance the special character of the area.

We hope to consider the suggestions of as many people as possible in preparing the Building Design Guide. Which buildings do you feel are examples of good design? Which enhance the local distinctiveness and landscape of the area and why?

The AONB Partnership is keen to hear about examples of all forms of domestic and commercial development, including brand new buildings, renovations to older buildings, extensions and conversions. Examples of good practice are being sought throughout the urban and rural environments, provided the buildings lie within or close to the Malvern Hills AONB (click here to open a map of the AONB in a new window).

Anyone can nominate a building to feature in the Building Design Guide, whether you are a member of the public that admires the building from afar or are the owner, architect, builder or planning officer. All you need to do is complete the form below and, if possible, upload photographs. If you would like to nominate more than one building, please complete a separate form for each.

Alternatively, nominations can be sent to the Malvern Hills AONB Partnership Office, Manor House, Grange Road, Malvern, WR14 3EY. Nominations are invited until the end of November 2011. Selected photographs will be included in the building design guide. The AONB Partnership intends to consult on a draft copy of the building design guide in January 2011.
